How is this different from the Health Benefits Checkup?

The Health Benefits Checkup covers your whole health picture, marketplace major medical included, and it is the right booking when the medical plan itself is part of the question. This one leaves major medical alone and spends the full half hour on dental, vision, hearing and the supplemental plans — which is the better use of the time when your medical coverage is already settled and these are the pieces nobody has looked at.

Is there an enrollment season for this?

No. Dental, vision and hearing plans are not Marketplace coverage and carry no annual enrollment window, so the month you are reading this is a month you can apply in. That is also why this one is worth booking outside open enrollment, when nothing else can move.

Can I get major work done straight away?

Read the first policy year before you assume so. Preventive visits generally start at once, but basic and major services are usually covered at a lower level in the first policy year than they are later — the higher percentages printed on plan summaries are second-year numbers. We put both columns in front of you before you apply, so a crown in month one is never a surprise.

Do I have to change dentists?

Not to have the conversation, and often not to take a plan. A network buys a negotiated price rather than permission — staying in network changes what a visit costs, it does not decide who you are allowed to see. Which of the two you are looking at is something we check before you decide anything.

What about coverage I had before?

Accepted Answer

Bring the old policy number. Several plans credit coverage you already held toward the higher benefit levels, so a plan that ended with a job can still count for something. We check whether yours qualifies rather than assuming it does.

Are these plans health insurance?

Accepted Answer

No — and the distinction matters. Dental, vision, hearing, hospital indemnity and critical illness plans are limited-benefit coverage. A hospital indemnity or critical illness plan pays a fixed cash amount when the event happens; it does not pay your medical bills and is not a substitute for major medical insurance. If the medical plan itself is the question, the Health Benefits Checkup is the right booking.

The checkup is at no cost to you, and your premium is the same whether you apply through us or on your own. If you take a plan, the carrier pays us — stated in writing before you decide anything.
